Program Summary: Self-Employment Loan Fund, Inc. (SELF) is a private non-profit micro- enterprise development organization whose mission is to promote the self-sufficiency of low income individuals, especially women and minorities, by encouraging the growth of micro- enterprise through training, technical assistance, and access to credit.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

The Program Coordinator is responsible for the delivery of high-quality business development and technical assistance services.     

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

Program:         

  • Handling inquiries and managing client enrollment
  • Coordinate orientation and workshop schedules
  • Coordinate facilitators and instructors orientation and workshop schedules
  • Maintain program and office supplies, including workbooks

Outreach:         

  • Conduct effective client outreach throughout Coconino County
  • Establish and maintain media relationships
  • Establish and maintain community partner referral networks
  • Establish and maintain direct client marketing venues

Administration and Reporting: 

  • Collect and forward weekly orientation sign-in sheets, program and orientation  surveys, registration forms, and copies of payment receipts to Phoenix office
  • Collect and forward weekly class rosters

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION:  BA/BS in business-related field or commensurate work experience with on-the-job training.  

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS: The ideal candidate should be committed to quality customer service.  He or she must be able to work independently, be detail-oriented, highly organized, and adept in coordinating multiple tasks.  Experience In working with diverse populations and coordinating community relationships is a plus.  Bilingual in English and Spanish is also a plus.

Reports to: Board of Directors

Position Summary

 

The Board of Directors seeks to recruit a CEO who will enthusiastically support and share the vision of SELF and provide daily leadership and professional guidance to staff and Board as the organization systematically and strategically positions itself to develop its programming for low-income ethnic minorities and women

Specific Responsibilities

 

  1. Implement an organizational management structure that successfully motivates staff and offers a clear understanding of individual responsibilities and operational procedures.
  2. Carry out organizational policies as determined by the Board of Directors.
  3. Serve as the primary contact for community relations and communicate organizational goals and objectives to various constituencies in order to foster a spirit of cooperation and raise the visibility of SELF. 
  4. With the support of the Board of Directors, plan and implement a resource development/fundraising strategy.
  5. Provide fiscal management for the organization and provide clear and accurate reports to the Board of Directors on a scheduled basis.  Ensure that program budgets are monitored and controlled.
  6. Ensure legal compliance in accordance with nonprofit status and make annual reports to government agencies as the corporate status requires.

Qualifications

 

Qualities and experience that the ideal candidates should display include:

·         Depth of experience in building, leading, and sustaining a nonprofit organization.

·         Innovative and committed to the principles and practices of an economic development and empowering organization.

·         Adept at coaching and motivating staff and board leadership around a shared vision.

·         Committed to and experienced in partnership-building in diverse communities.

·         Experienced in overseeing complex projects.

·         High degree of fiscal management skills and monitoring of complex budgets.

·         Highly competent in the principles and practices of annual fundraising campaigns.

·         Grounded in the practices of effective nonprofit organizational management and governance.

Preference will be given to candidates that also display success, experience, and expertise in micro enterprise development, economic development, or business planning.

Duties/Responsibilities: General: The Business Facilitator is responsible for conducting semi-monthly Circle meetings, as well as micro-loan packaging.  Specific:  Facilitate group meetings and provide technical assistance in marketing, managing, organizing, and financing small business.  Facilitate setting agendas, creating by-laws, and continue the business education of the borrowers within the circle.  Review Business Plans and financial statements.  The facilitator's main objective is to develop strategies to help business owners to grow their businesses.

Qualifications: Education: Minimum of BA/BS in a related field or commensurate work experience with on-the-job training.  Experience: Two years minimum experience in community organizing, conflict resolution, team building, or group dynamics. Self-employment or micro-enterprise field experience strongly desired. Skills: Bilingual English/Spanish preferred. Ability to work with different cultures and diverse community organizations. Ability to resolve conflict within circles or other organizations.  Work effectively with volunteers using project management skills.  Ability to facilitate small groups.  Fundamental understanding of marketing, accounting, lending, and finance desired.  Personal: Ability to respond to a variety of demands and personalities. Energetic, open, creative attitude, good organizational skills and attention to detail.  Commitment to the goals and philosophy of Self-Employment Loan Fund is essential.

Salary and Benefits: Status: Part-time, non-management, non-exempt.  Range: $20/hr. Benefits: None.  Hours/Month: varies [afternoon & evening – Monday through Thursday].
